Friend, this morning I want to talk a little about loneliness.
When I got married and moved 4 hours away from everything I’ve ever known, I anticipated challenges. But I had no idea just how challenging it would be on my heart. Anyone who has moved probably knows the feeling I’m talking about. You have to make new friends, figure out the new city you’re in, and find creative ways of exploring when all you want to do is curl up at home with a book and become a hermit. All the while, fighting this overwhelming feeling of isolation and sadness.
Friend, God is right next to you. I know it’s hard to see Him in moments like this but I promise that He is there. Ever present in our situations and troubles. Even if we look back at those times and think “what the heck Jenn, that wasn’t even anything to be worrying about, that was so small!” Jesus is still there for us.
Just like a good father, always wanting to listen to his four-year olds huge life problem of how she is never wearing bottoms again; our Good Father in Heaven is also right there, listening, when our world seems to be crumbling before our eyes.
So trust me, there have been nights that I’m lying there with my wonderful husband, but feeling so alone in this move. But I have to remind myself in those moments that Jesus is there. And more importantly: Jesus cares about my little hurts and fears.
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
“…Casting all your cares on Him, for He cares for you.” – 1st Peter 5:7
My friend, I don’t know what you struggle with but I know that I sometimes struggle with loneliness, even when I’m with the people I love. Even if I’ve come to Jesus about this 100 times, He still wants to hear me and help me with my hurts. So whether you feel this often or not at all, I pray you run to Him when you feel down in the dumps. The enemy will do everything in his power to keep you in that hole but we are made for so much joy and happiness with Jesus Christ.
