I don’t know about you, but Father’s Day is a difficult day for me in many ways. My last grandfather passed away very unexpectedly in February, and my relationship with my earthly father is difficult.
It can be a really sad day if I sit and look at just my life, and I think sorrow on days like today remind us to look for what’s better, what’s true and what will last and never fade away.

Today, I’m looking to Jesus and to the Father — who carries my griefs and burdens. He is the perfect father, the most wonderful friend and wise counselor.
Unlike earthly fathers who will eventually leave us (whether it’s by choice or due to sickness or death), or sin against us, Jesus will never, ever leave or forsake me. He is with me moment by moment, always faithful, always interceding for me in whatever comes my way.
Friend, mo matter what today looks like or feels like to you — know that Jesus is with you in every moment of today, he empathizes with our sorrow, he cares for our tears and he carries all of our burdens. If you are in Christ, you will always be held, protected and one day gathered up to be face to face with our Father in heaven, in all of his glory, and there will never be sadness or a sad, hard Father’s Day again. And know that until that day, in every moment, Christ has secured the perfect Father for you through his life, burial and resurrection. Look to Jesus and find hope and rest for your soul.
